Section 3a: Misc.
---------------------

1. If the raid leader was to wrongfully chew you out in the middle of a raid, how would you react? (be honest and explain!)

like i said i'm not easily offended -- i would defend myself in a whisper -- or take the blame and maybe talk about it later. angry raid leaders usually can't be reasoned with and most don't like to admit they are wrong -- i am one of those. all i can do as a raider is listen and do what i'm told to the best of my abilities.

2. If you were asked to sit out for a raid that you signed up for well in advance, how would you react? (be honest and explain!)

i have always had the "what's best for the raid/guild" mentality. who am i to question the leaders on what they feel is best. if i feel i'm being singled out or it happens on a regular basis -- i might be offended.

Section 3b: Misc.
---------------------

1. If you were in charge of TFB, what would you make the guild ranks called (Leader, Officers, Raiders, Casuals)?

I have never been one to take much interest in the names of ranks -- i think the mafia theme is fitting for the guild name.

2. What two web sites do you visit the most for WoW information?

elitist jerks -- maxdps.com

3. If you lost both your hands in an accident and the doctors said, 'Well, we can leave them as stumps or we could attach the hands of a monkey', what would you do?

monkey hands for sure -- stumps are pretty worthless.

4. Your best friend of the opposite sex is dying of a degenerative bone disease. One day he/she tells you it's their dying wish to have sex with you. You agree but after a few minutes he/she coughs, sputters and dies. Do you finish?

sex isn't done until I'M done. so of course i'd finish. i'm sure that's what they would have wanted anyway.

5. Why are you actively searching a new guild? What expectations do you have?

I am getting tired of waiting for pugs to form or trying to form my own that are not filled with idiots. would be nice to come home and have a raid ready to go to. i would like to get the same enjoyment from the game that i get now without having to put forth the amount of time i currently do.

6. How long have you been playing WoW and how many guilds have you been a member of?

been playing since december 25th 2006. most of that time was spent with the same guild until it broke apart around january of 09. i've been bouncing around a bit since -- havn't found a place to settle into. on daninut i have only ever been in 3 guilds -- not counting my guild of one that i made and am currently in now.

7. What is your longest tenure in any one guild?

> 1 Year

7b. Was this a raiding guild?

Yes

8. Do you have any suggestions for questions that can be added to this section (bonus points given for non WoW related questions)?

What hobbies do you have other than wow?

Ive done a few raids with him in my time, he's pretty good

Hopefully yova or nova will have some input as far as gear and spec goes

Been a long, long time since I have had a warlock app to critique...

...and I cannot really find anything to critique. Most of the differences spec/glyph wise seem to be personal choice or necessitated by gear. I am slightly surprised you need to spec into Suppression, I tend to find that I am flooded with hit rating.

I would imagine that without ISL, you tend to need to lifetap more, hence the LT glyph. I need to check up on this tomorrow, but I seem to remember that the benefit of Glyph of Immolate also affects conglag damage now. Again, this may boil down to personal choice, but you may want to explore getting that 3% hit suppression gives you from gear, and go Immo/Incin/Conflag for glyphs.

Anyway, wanted to get some initial thoughts down, will look to explore it a bit more tomorrow.

The 3 points in suppression is the only thing i would have to be confused about i guess considering you are already at 15% hit, you should be taking into consideration that there will more than likely be a moonkin or shadowpriest giving and extra 3% and if you really needed it a draeni in your group, your build is really based 100% on doing MAX possible DPS and 0 support (no imp SL, and no shadowfury) Gear checks out though, if i were you id drop a point in suppression and get shadowfury (you will thank me if you ever get to heroic champions, and might be required for you on anub hard) and either keep the other 2 points in suppression in case a piece of loot drops that has you dropping alot of hit, or getting 2 points in healthstones or one of the survival talents (soul link / molten skin / nether protection) for some support since its really not doing you any good unless the boomkin or Spriest are both dead :D

to defend the supression -- i don't have a guild and hardly run 25 mans -- i dont' consistently have a boomkin or sp that i run 10 mans -- they can be rare in most pugs. currently i have it set up so that i put a stronger dps trinket in if i have a sp or boomkins and only use the hit trinket when the sp or boomkins aren't present. i would easily be able to drop it and pick up the point in shadowfury -- even drop all 3 points and permanently use the hit trinket. as far as the lifetap glyph, it adds well over 100 sp -- 40 seconds is a long time between lifetaps so it's really a non issue keeping it up -- and testing out with the dummies has shown it is significantly more dps than the glyph of immolate unless they have changed something about it recently.

I have not caught up on my lock theorycrafting for a little bit since I have been on the shaman mostly, but if memory serves, Conflag/Immo/Incin beats Conflag/X/LT when you have ISL due to the fact that it actually equates to a DPS loss Lifetapping every 40 seconds just to keep the buff up compared to the other options for glyphs.

As for the hit issues, with 25 mans we have a moonkin or shadow priest in raid 99.9% of the time, so I would plan for that. For my 25 man gear, I try to keep it at between 13 and 14% hit, so that if there is a spot with a dranei I am fine, if not I am not totally screwed.

I agree with Yova, Shadowfury is incredibly useful in champs, and is also nearly a must-have for someone to have it with Anub. Check my armory or Yovalord's.

i might agree with a fight like patchwork. but i have found almost every fight (especially toc) there as a high ammount of mobility involved for the dps -- which means there is always an opportune time to life tap. gormok might be the exception - but if you life tap just before the pull --- you can disregard the first 40 seconds of the fight. when the worms come out -- another opportune time to life tap -- when they go down another good time. again with icehowl just after a massive crash another good time -- so without losing any dps i have kept up my lt glyph. same thing goes with every fight in toc -- so in my own personal experiencei have thrown out the idea that you actually count the time lifetapping as missed dps -- if your smart about when you use it.

as far as the suppression, i'm gonna drop it -- it would deffinetly be a useless stat in any of your raids. i wil probably drop my pvp build for a bit -- havn't done any arenas in awhile anyway -- and copy nova's spec and glyphs and see if it appeals to me or not.

With issues like this, where if there is any difference between two choices it is very small, I care more about your ability to defend your choice when asked about it, which you have done quite well.

If you are not saved this week, we generally do an alt ToC25 normal run Saturday afternoons. Many of our alts at this point are nearly as geared as our mains, so don't get scared off by that. If you want to get in on that, shoot someone in TFB a message asking if Rallin or Blackwind is on, as they will be on one of a dozen alts between them.

Also, we will almost certainly not be raiding next week, due to Thanksgiving. Normal raids will pick back up Wed, 12/2. Good luck going forward with your app.

Contact an officer for a ginvite -- if we don't raid (next Wed is still up in the air, Thursday is a definite no), at least you can experience the wonder that is TFB guild chat.

I will be waiving the "you must go on at least one raid before an app invite" rule for the holidays, provided that you actually have a shot at being trial'd.

i appreciate the invite and i am currently not saved -- but one of the few things i do other than wow is deer hunting and the season opens up on saturday so unfortunately i'll be off killing shit. as far as wed and thursday i wil be visiting family out of town and also not available so i guess it's a good that we aren't raiding. i'll be ready to go come next saturday for the alt run and the next raids if i'm needed as well.

No, I was just curious because I spent a summer working in Poughkeepsie and was constantly driving up to Albany to pick up co-workers. ^^

my apologies, i had to replace my hard drive and was out of commision for a few days. the new one seems to be working fine so i should be in good shape for the next raid, if i'm needed. again sorry i couldn't find a pc to let someone know before the raid.

so i felt pretty worthless in that last raid. i havn't played demo since before wrath, so needless to say i was unprepared. i'll do my research and be ready for the next raid. I'm going to get with yova this week and pick you brain about the demo spec.

i want to have this demo spec available, so i was curious if i'd be more useful with destro/ demo or aff / demo.

Novacurse
01-07-2010, 09:08 AM
The second spec is more or less up to you I think, as long as you can play it well. You may have better mileage with a destro spec with replen to fill in for a 10 man group that is without replen. Food for thought.

And while I was not there last night, the simple act of having a demo lock is a big thing. We 100% need one for every 25 man from now on. I don't know how you got chosen to go demo, but if you are willing to keep it up, that is a big plus.

I have not read this in detail yet, but passing it along as maybe a good supplementary source of Demo info. As always, consult with EJ for definitive information.

cool thanx. yeah i have no problem going demo at all. i actually kinda liked it--- aside from the fact of being dead last in the deeps department. i do enjoy afflction and i do believe my dps is higher in that spec, but as far as 10 - mans i think the replen and shadowfury are probably more important and useful.

thanx for that link it was extremely helpful. i was deffinitely not doing anywhere near the dps i should have been. looking forward to trying it out.
